Introducing ROUTED Beacon

Know what your network
actually feels like. From the client. Always on.

ROUTED Beacon is a compact always-on monitoring appliance that measures real-world Wi-Fi performance from the device perspective — signal, throughput, latency, roaming — 24 hours a day, without any manual intervention.

The Problem

Your controller
doesn't see what
your users see.

Infrastructure-side blind spots

AP dashboards report what the controller thinks is happening. They can't measure what a connected client actually experiences.

Problems appear after the fact

By the time users complain, the event is over. Retrospective debugging without time-series data is guesswork.

Roaming is invisible

Sticky clients, premature handoffs, and coverage gaps between APs rarely appear in controller logs with enough detail to act on.

Beacon changes the perspective.

Instead of looking down from the infrastructure, Beacon looks up from the client — measuring exactly what a device on your network experiences, continuously, without any manual triggering.

Every 5 minutes it runs a full probe cycle: RF scan, throughput test, DNS resolution, HTTP latency, and packet transmission health. Every result is timestamped and stored locally — building a continuous record you can slice across any time window.

What It Monitors

Every layer.
Every 5 minutes.

Beacon tracks 15+ metrics across the radio, network, and application layers simultaneously — giving you a complete, correlated picture of Wi-Fi experience.

RSSI
−34 dBm
Received signal strength — the raw power level your device sees from the AP.
SNR
61 dB
Signal-to-noise ratio — a true indicator of connection quality beyond raw signal strength.
Download
285 Mbps
Measured throughput — actual bytes transferred over the air, not estimated PHY rate.
Upload
140 Mbps
Uplink throughput measured every cycle. Critical for video conferencing and voice quality.
HTTP Latency
278 ms
Active HTTP probe against a known endpoint — the latency a real browser request would see.
Jitter
1.6 ms
Variation in latency over time — a key predictor of voice and video call quality degradation.
TX Retry Rate
0.0 %
Percentage of packets requiring retransmission — an early warning of RF interference or coverage issues.
Channel Util.
0.0 %
How busy the RF medium is — distinguishes congested networks from interference-impacted ones.
How It Works

Zero friction.

01

Power & Connect

Plug Beacon into any USB-C power source. It connects to your Wi-Fi network and begins collecting data immediately — no configuration wizard, no cloud account, no onboarding flow.

02

Continuous Measurement

Every ~5 minutes, Beacon runs a full probe cycle — scanning RF parameters, testing throughput in both directions, probing DNS and HTTP latency, and logging transmission health metrics. All data is stored locally.

03

Open the Dashboard

Access the built-in web dashboard from any browser on the same network. View live status, period averages with peak/min values, time-series charts across 1H to 7D windows, and a full roaming event log.

Features

Built for engineers
who need answers fast.

Every feature in Beacon is designed around one goal: getting from symptom to root cause as quickly as possible.

Real-Time Dashboard

Live status, current association details, and all key metrics at a glance. Auto-refreshes every 30 seconds. Color-coded health indicators require zero interpretation.

Time-Series Trend Charts

Three interactive charts covering bandwidth, latency & jitter, and signal quality. Selectable 1H, 6H, 24H, and 7D windows. Long-range views auto-aggregate into hourly averages.

Roaming Intelligence

Every AP transition is logged with source/destination BSSID, RSSI at handoff, channel pair, and frequency band. Build a complete audit trail of association behavior over time.

Connection Timing Breakdown

Visual bar chart of each phase in the connection establishment sequence — 802.11 association, DHCP, DNS, and HTTP first-byte. Pinpoint exactly where setup latency comes from.

TX Health Monitoring

Tracks TX retry rate, TX fail rate, and cumulative packet counts per measurement period. Elevated retries often surface interference or coverage degradation days before user complaints.

All data lives on the device. The dashboard is served directly from Beacon — no account, no subscription, no internet dependency, no privacy concerns. Works completely air-gapped if needed.

Use Cases

Where Beacon works.

Anywhere reliable Wi-Fi matters and accountability is required.

01 —

Permanent Site Monitoring

Deploy in offices, warehouses, hospitals, retail floors, or event venues. Beacon runs continuously and surfaces degradation the moment it starts — not when users call helpdesk.

02 —

Post-Deployment Validation

Place Beacon after a new Wi-Fi installation or upgrade. Verify that real-world client experience matches your design intent with weeks of continuous data, not a 30-minute survey.

03 —

Active Issue Troubleshooting

Left on-site during an active problem, Beacon captures correlated time-series data across RF, network, and application layers — making it possible to pinpoint cause rather than guess.

04 —

Roaming Verification

Validate 802.11r/k/v roaming behavior in multi-AP environments. Every AP transition is logged with full RF context — RSSI at handoff, source/destination channel, timing.

05 —

Hotel & Hospitality

Guests expect flawless connectivity the moment they arrive. Deploy Beacon per floor or zone to continuously validate coverage, catch dead spots before check-in, and prove SLA compliance to management with real data — not anecdotes from the front desk.
